Core Medical Recruitment will endeavor to pay you on time, every time. Core Medical Recruitments Locum Doctors can be paid by any of the following methods:

  • PAYE - (pay as you earn) is a withholding tax in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and certain other countries. It is an amount collected by employers on behalf of the government from employees as a provisional payment of tax on the employee's income.
  • Limited Company - A limited company in the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland is a corporation with shareholders whose liability is limited by shares (Ltd), which is the most common form of privately held company. Setting up as a limited company is an attractive option for many people as, unlike sole traders, personal assets are completely distinct from company finances.
  • Umbrella Company - An umbrella company is a company that acts as an employer to Agency contractors who work under a fixed term contract assignment, usually through a Recruitment Employment Agency in the United Kingdom. Recruitment agencies issue contracts to a limited company as the agency liability would be reduced. It issues invoices to the recruitment agency (or client) and, when payment of the invoice is made, will typically pay the contractor through PAYE with the added benefit of offsetting some of the income through claiming expenses such as Travel, Meals, and Accommodation.
  • Self employed - Self-employment is working for one's self rather than for another person or company. To be self-employed, an individual is normally highly skilled in a trade or has a niche product or service for his or her local community. With the creation of the Internet the ability for an individual to become self-employed has increased dramatically. Self-employed people can also be referred to as a person who works for himself/herself instead of an employer, but drawing income from a trade or business that they operate personally.

To be self-employed is not the same as being a business owner: A business owner is not required to be hands-on with the day-to-day operations of his or her company, while a self-employed person has to utilize a very hands-on approach in order to survive. It was said that 1 out of 5 new businesses failed within the first few years in North America, but success or failure in a business cannot be accurately predicted.
